On behalf of the University of Latvia SPIE student chapter, we are pleased to invite students and young scientists to the 21st International Young Scientist Conference “Developments in Optics and Communications 2025” held in Riga, May 8 – May 10, 2025.

The conference will be on-site and take place at the University of Latvia Academic Centre, House of Science, Jelgavas Street 3.

We would like to encourage you to present your research results with a talk or a poster presentation relevant to the conference topics:

• Laser physics and spectroscopy

• Optical materials and phenomena 

• Vision Science

• Biophotonics

Our conference is open to any enthusiastic student from all over the world. The Best student presentation prize will be awarded to the best poster presentation and talk.

The deadline for the submission of the abstracts is April 1st

To submit the abstracts, please, use the registration form available at the homepage of the conference.


We remind you that the official language of this conference is English. This year's conference is organized by the students from the UL SPIE student chapter in collaboration with the Institute of Solid State Physics and University of Latvia. During the conference, there will be an opportunity to listen not only to student presentations but also to leading researchers from other European universities and presentations given by industry representatives.
